Fires That Forge Morosse, the Spike Thumb

Death of a City, Birth of a Curse is the first short story set in the Bloodlines Reforged Saga by author R.J. Hanson. Death of a City, Birth of a Curse is available via three different methods. First as part of the Adventures of Stratvs Collection, with an MSRP of 99 cents (USD) or free with Kindle Unlimited. Method two is to sign up for R.J. Hanson's newsletter Notable and Quotable, along with two other newsletter exclusive stories; Morosse, the Spike Thumb and Depths of Nolcavanor. The third location the story can be found is in Whetstones of the Will, as a prologue to the story.

On May 2, 2022, the Kindle version was replaced with the Adventures of Stratvs Collection: Short Stories of the Bloodlines Reforged Saga, and is no longer able to be downloaded or purchased in its original format.[1]

Setting[edit | edit source]

Death of a City, Birth of a Curse is set in the years 2188 and 2190, in the Age of Divine Guidance. If you're following the author's suggested reading order, it should be read after Fires That Forge and before Morosse, the Spike Thumb.[2]

Betrayed by those he called friends, his Kingdom crumbling, Lord Ivant sends his son to Lethor to save his bloodline. The capital city of Lethanor is leveled and those who betrayed him are cursed.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The ebook version of Death of a City, Birth of a Curse contains a paragraph not present in the physical, Kindle, or audiobook copies of Whetstones of the Will. It sets the scene in the tower, after the confrontation in the city of Ivory Rose.
    • The introductory sentence of the paragraph contains an error. It states that the confrontation in the tower takes place hours after the battle in the city of Ivory Rose as opposed to (2) years later.
  • Death of a City, Birth of a Curse was released on Kindle as a pre-release treat for Fires That Forge.[5]
